A fashion show was also put on for Georgina, as we hear she is a follower of Fashion and this provided a chance for Local designers to showcase their designs.  She was very gracious in the event put on in her honor and as she understood it was a  “24 hour expo”.  So yes all us operators had to ‘rattle our dags’ to put something together in time, all in all it was a success.

Thanks you Te Puni Kokiri and Michelle Baker for allowing us to be apart of the Expo.  A special thank you to all the other businesses on showcase that day.  We really felt at home among other successful businesses, with the economic situation the way it is it is always a breath of fresh air to see Maori trying to create a sense of Self-Autonomy through business to better the economic climate and contribute to the betterment of all New Zealanders.

Last night we had the privilege of witnessing ZION HILL take out the Waikato Regional Battle of the Bands competition at Axces Bar in Hamilton.  Out of 8 bands from all over the Waikato including the Bay of Plenty, they were first up.  Not always the easiest place to be first but the band handled it with pure professionalism and finesse, setting the Bar for those to follow.   Their passion ignited the crowd from the first cord played, eventually setting it a light with their showmanship and damn good music, finished with a Grand finale and  the whole room was in full Blaze with cheers.

Each band member knew their role from Gavin Dempsey as the Lead Singer, commanding the stage and making it his own, to Damian Hepi-Te Huia on the Bass playing it cool, Shay Rudolph on the Lead and Rhythm Guitar played with eloquence (especially in coordination with the guitar synth) and Jesse Bates on the Drums & Percussion whose presence was felt, seen and heard throughout.  They gave us an Awe-Inspiring Performance and I was grateful to have dragged myself out last night.

Must give a shout out to Brad Morgan who manned the sound desk for Zion Hill.  I was present at the heat for the Battle of the bands and there were technical troubles (no fault of Zion Hill) but having a professional come in to take care of it, to know you can have complete trust that it will be done right is always a boost for confidence.  Awesome work Brad – P.S his band MagicEye plays tonight at Diggers.  Should check him out, he has a huge following in the industry because of his musical prowess.

CONGRATULATIONS ZION HILL from PMD Online was massive to be apart of your journey.  Represent Waikato Music at the National Battle of the Bands, we will have you in our hearts sending a massive Aroha and Tautoko to you all.

So in the words of Gavin Dempsey “Get off the Pipe”.
